HONOR V8 with dual camera teased for May 10th launch
Huawei’s Honor sub-brand is gearing up to launch a new smartphone next month, having just released a teaser for its new HONOR V8. The handset looks to be the successor to the company’s main HONOR 7 model, which has sold quite well across Asia and parts of Europe.
Just like HUAWEI’s recently unveiled P9 and P9 Plus flagships, the HONOR V8 also looks to feature a dual rear camera setup. Much of the imagery in the teaser is quite similar to that which HUAWEI used in the build-up to its latest flagships. Although the teaser doesn’t mention anything specifically, rumored specifications suggest that the V8 will also feature dual 12 megapixel sensors, but without the Leica lenses. So we’re not clear if this is the interesting monochrome and RGB dual image sensor setup, or something more akin to the regular sensor configurations found in the LG G5 or HONOR 6 Plus.
Other hardware for the V8 is pegged at 4GB of RAM, a fingerprint scanner, and use of the company’s in house HiSilicon Kirin 950 SoC, rather than the Kirin 955 that is found in the HUAWEI P9. So we’re looking at quite a high-end model here.
The launch event is set for May 10th, pencil in the date.
