How to delete apps on Apple TV
While we sometimes leave apps on our devices “just in case,” less is usually more — it makes it easier to find the apps we actually care about, and avoids maxing out storage. Here’s how to delete apps on an Apple TV, or if you’re just concerned about your homescreen, hide them.
QUICK ANSWER
Delete Apple TV apps by clicking and holding until they shake, pushing Play/Pause, then selecting Delete. Hide apps by going to Settings > Apps and toggling them between Show and Hide.

How to delete apps on Apple TV
To delete an app and all its local data:
- Highlight the app you want to delete using your Siri Remote.
- Click and hold the Remote’s touchpad until the app starts shaking.
- Push the Play/Pause button on your Remote, then select Delete onscreen.
If it’s an app you purchased, don’t worry — you can download it again for free. Many apps, such as Netflix, also tie their user data to cloud services, in which case you’ll get it back when you sign in again.
How to hide apps from your Apple TV homescreen
Go to Settings > Apps, then click on apps in the list to toggle them between Show and Hide. You can reverse this at any time.
Remember of course that hiding an app doesn’t delete anything. All its data is intact, so if you run into your Apple TV’s storage limits, don’t forget to check for hidden apps before deleting the apps that are still on your homescreen.
