How to download Amazon Prime movies and TV shows
Streaming media to your device is great — you’re neither juggling physical media nor eating up valuable storage space. But internet connections aren’t always available or stable, like in rural areas or during power outages. We show you how to download Amazon Prime movies and TV shows for offline viewing.
Please note that you absolutely cannot download movies and TV shows on a desktop or laptop. Instead, you must fall back on Android and Apple smartphones and tablets, or a Fire-branded tablet. Our guide covers the Android version of Prime Video distributed through Google Play.

How to download Amazon Prime movies
1. Find a movie you want to download.
2. Tap the circular Download button.
3. Select the quality based on your storage limits and data allowance. Here’s the list:
- Best: 0.46GB for one hour
- Better: 0.33GB for one hour
- Good: 0.27GB for one hour
- Data saver: 0.14GB for one hour
4. Click Make this my default setting if you want to use this quality going forward.
5. The download button changes to Complete once done.
6. Tap the blue Watch Now button.
7. To find this movie later, tap the three-line “hamburger” button in the top left corner.
8. Tap Downloads in the rollout menu.
9. Select the downloaded movie.
10. Tap the blue Watch Now button on the next screen.
How to download Amazon Prime TV shows
1. Find the TV show you want to download.
2. Select the TV season (if available).
3. Tap the Download Season # button to grab the entire season.
4. To download specific episodes, select the target season, scroll down, and tap the Download button next to the episode you want stored on your device.
5. Select the quality based on your storage limits and data allowance. Here’s the list:
- Best: 0.46GB for one hour
- Better: 0.33GB for one hour
- Good: 0.27GB for one hour
- Data saver: 0.14GB for one hour
6. Click Make this my default setting if you want to use this quality going forward.
7. The download button changes to Complete once done.
8. Tap the blue Watch Now button.
9. To find your TV shows later, tap the three-line “hamburger” button in the top left corner.
10. Tap Downloads in the rollout menu.
11. Select the downloaded episode or season.
12. Tap the Play button on the episode screenshot.

Set Auto Play
If you want Amazon Video to play the next episode automatically, you need to activate this feature.
1. Tap the three-line “hamburger” button in the top left corner.
2. Select Settings.
3. Tap the Auto Play toggle. It turns orange, indicating that Auto Play is now on.
