How to set Spotify music as an alarm
Spotify provides a feature for users who want to customize their sleeping experience. You can set a sleep timer and integrate the program with the built-in alarm function on your mobile device. This allows you to use any Spotify song as your alarm. Here’s how to set Spotify music as your alarm on Android and iPhone.
THE SHORT ANSWER
To use Spotify as your alarm on Android, open the Google's Clock app. From there, go to Alarm and find the alarm you want to edit. Select the Alarm sound option and go to Spotify. Search for the song you want to set as your alarm and select it.
To use Spotify as your alarm on iOS, you must download or purchase a separate alarm app that integrates with Spotify.
KEY SECTIONS
Setting Spotify as an alarm works differently for Android and iPhone devices. For Android phones, the function is built into the Clock app that comes with the operating system. On the other hand, iOS users will have to find a workaround.
How to set Spotify as an alarm (Android)
- Go to your Play Store and install Google’s Clock app.
- Open the app, navigate to the Alarm tab at the bottom and locate the alarm you want to modify.
- Tap the Alarm sound button (depicted as a bell with shaking lines).
- On the Alarm sound page, select the Spotify tab from the options at the top.
- In the Spotify tab, use the Search button (magnifying glass-shaped) if your desired song isn’t immediately visible.
- Type in the song name and tap to select it.
- Return to the Alarm page; you should now see your chosen Spotify song set as the alarm.
How to set Spotify as an alarm (iOS)
There is currently no built-in way to set Spotify music as an alarm on iOS devices. The free Clock app with Apple’s iPhones and iPads is not integrated with Spotify. To set a Spotify song as your alarm on an iOS device, you must download a custom alarm app like Night™・Sleep Sounds・Fan Noise.
While it is possible to use a Spotify audio downloading tool to download songs as MP3s and set them as custom alarm sounds, Spotify does not condone downloading songs as MP3s. Music on Spotify is meant to be played through Spotify, even if it has been downloaded to your device through the built-in function.
Set Spotify as an alarm using the Night Sleep Sounds Fan Noise app
Night™ is an app designed to improve your sleep with calming sounds such as nature, white noise, and meditation music. It also enables you to wake up to your favorite Spotify music. However, it’s important to note that for this feature, your phone must play sound throughout the night. Additionally, before we proceed with the steps, please be aware that this third-party app requires a premium Spotify account. If you’re okay with these conditions, let’s dive right into the steps:
- Go to your App Store and download the Night™・Sleep Sounds・Fan Noise app.
- Open the app and sign up with your email or Apple account, then follow the instructions.
- Explore the sleep sounds and choose one you like.
- When you’re ready, Tap to go to sleep.
- To set an alarm, tap on the clock button.
- You’ll have the option to set an alarm, similar to how you do it in the clock app.
- Below song, tap on it to find the song you want to set as an alarm.
- In the search bar, type in the song name, and once it appears, tap on it to select.
- Once you’re satisfied, hit Save (In the advanced settings, you can adjust the target volume, fade-in volume, snooze option, and more).
If you only want the alarm option without the sleep sounds, we recommend using the Volume Fade feature. This allows you to play the sleep sounds quietly. Follow these steps:
- Tap on the volume button.
- Next to Sleep Volume, tap on the percentage and set it to 1% (you can adjust this to your liking, such as 5%, 10%, etc.).
- Set the volume fade time to 1 minute. This means the volume will gradually decrease to the selected Sleep Volume over the course of a minute (feel free to customize this duration based on your preference).
- Once you’ve completed these steps, select Add Volume Fade.
