HTC's next flagship probably won't arrive at MWC 2018
HTC’s next flagship won’t arrive at MWC 2018, according to a report from Android Headlines. The smartphone, possibly titled the HTCU12, will miss out on one of the world’s biggest electronics shows, which will also see the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and possibly the Sony Xperia XZ Pro.
Android Headlines, who cites an inside source, said HTCwill instead launch the phone at its own event sometime later, likely in March or April.
HTC’s upcoming flagship could have been a good fit for the electronics show, given the amount of press coverage it generally receives. As the U11 arrived in May last year, however, it might be too early in the release cycle for the device to make an appearance.
HTC is speculated to reduce the number of phones it releases in 2018, and with its 2017 revenues being the company’s worst for 13 years, the company may choose to spend extra time developing its next flagship. Rumors regarding what the upcoming handset will offer have been conflicting but there was a suggestion that it would come with a 4K display.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus may receive the lion’s share of the coverage at MWC this year as competitors LG and HUAWEI are also tipped to avoid major flagship launches at the show. For more on what you can expect, visit our dedicated MWC 2018 page at the link.
