The HTCU12 Plus and U11 series will someday get Android Pie
- HTC has announced that the Android Pie update is coming to the U12 Plus and U11 series.
- Unfortunately, the company didn’t release a timeframe for the update so it could be days, weeks, or months before the update is released.
It’s been a week since Google officially unveiled Android Pie and announced that the update would be rolling out to its Pixel devices. While we’re still waiting for most smartphone manufacturers to share when the update will make it to their devices, HTChas confirmed that a handful of its phones will get Android Pie “in due course.”
According to a recent tweet, HTCwill bring the firmware update to the U12 Plus, U11 Plus, U11, and U11 life.
We’re pleased as pie to confirm updates to Android Pie for the HTCU12 Plus, U11 Plus, U11, and U11 life (Android One). Timeframes for roll-out will be announced in due course. We can’t wait to know what you think of Google’s freshest slice of Android! pic.twitter.com/mPJePFegne— HTC(@htc) August 10, 2018

This announcement follows the news that Sony plans to bring Android Pie to its XZ line sometime between the beginning of September and the end of November. Sony was a part of the Android P Beta Program, so it isn’t a huge surprise that the company plans to roll out the update so soon after the software’s official launch (though it is a pleasant one).
It’s great to see HTCannounce some of its flagships will be updated to Android Pie, but the lack of a timeframe is disappointing. At this point, it should be a given that a phone just released several months ago like the U12 Plus will be upgraded to the latest version of Android. By being so vague in its tweet, HTCcould bring Pie to its devices in a matter of days, weeks, or months.
At this point, we’re still waiting for companies like OnePlus, vivo, OPPO, HUAWEI, and others to announce when Android Pie will come to their devices.
