HUAWEI to announce its "new flagship device" on Feb. 26 at MWC 2017
We are still several weeks away from the start of the Mobile World Congress 2017 trade show in Barcelona, Spain, but most of the major smartphone companies are wasting no time in sending out invites to their press event during the show. The latest is China-based HUAWEI, who says its event will feature “the global unveiling of a new flagship device” on Sunday, Feb. 26.
HUAWEI did not offer any further info on what this new device will be. It’s possible that it could be a successor to the highly successful HUAWEI P9 smartphone. It was launched in April in China and Europe and since then, the company says it has shipped over 10 million combined units of the P9 and its P9 Plus variant. In the meantime, you can check out our recent interview with HUAWEI CEO Richard Yu, who took the time to chat with our own Darcy LaCouvee at CES 2017 last week on a number of topics.
Feb. 26 looks like it is going to be very busy in terms of press reveals. A recent report claims LG will hold its own event on that day to officially reveal the LG G6, and HMD Global will be making some announcements on that day centering on its next Nokia-branded smartphones.
