HUAWEI CEO caught using foldable Mate X in airport, totally on accident, guys
HUAWEI Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu was recently caught using the foldable HUAWEI Mate X — which so far is unreleased — in an airport. Rather than hide away his usage of the yet-to-be-launched device, he happily hammed it up for the camera, even allowing the anonymous photographer to grab some close-up shots of the phone.
The pics originated on Weibo (spotted first by GizChina) from a user with a dog as their avatar photo who mostly seems to post photos of HUAWEI and HONOR devices.
The photos also surfaced right around the same time as Samsung revealed the new launch date of the Samsung Galaxy Fold.
We’re sure this is all entirely coincidental though.
Check out the pictures below:
Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Fold — which obviously has nothing to do with this totally impromptu photo session — the HUAWEI Mate X has an outward-facing foldable display. The Galaxy Fold shuts closed like a book, while the Mate X’s screen is constantly exposed.
Some say that the Fold’s design is better for preserving the delicate display, while others say HUAWEI’s design will put less stress on the crease line of the display.
Either way, both phones are set to land in September, although the Mate X will almost certainly not launch in the United States, whereas the Galaxy Fold will (just not on T-Mobile).
What do you think? How does the HUAWEI Mate X look in this spontaneous, definitely-not-planned-ahead-of-time photoshoot? Let us know in the comments.
