HUAWEI P20 likely to be revealed in Paris on March 27
- Press invites have been sent by HUAWEI for an upcoming event in Paris on March 27.
- The event is likely to officially reveal the long-awaited HUAWEI P20 flagship smartphone.
- There may be as many as three P20 phone models shown in Paris on that date.
We have been waiting patiently for Huawei to give us a clue about when they plan to reveal the long awaited P20 flagship smartphone. Today, invites from HUAWEI to a number of media outlets have arrived, announcing the company will indeed show off “new flagship devices” at a press event in Paris on March 27.
HUAWEI didn’t mention a specific brand name for the phone that would be revealed at the Paris event, though it’s almost certain to be the P20—the successor to 2017’s HUAWEI P10 family.
The date is also about a month after the 2018 Mobile World Congress trade show. HUAWEI first showed off the P10 family at the 2017 MWC event but it looks like the company wants to delay the launch of the P20 models by a few weeks, perhaps because HUAWEI doesn’t want to compete with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S9 lineup.
Unconfirmed rumors about the P20 include larger displays for the main phone and the P20 Plus, along with a third P20 Lite model. Both the P20 and P20 Plus are expected to have HUAWEI’s latest in-house Kirin 970 chipset inside. A recent rumor claims that the high-end phones could have Leica’s camera sensors, including a triple lens 40 MP rear camera setup with 5x hybrid zoom, along with a huge 24 MP front-facing camera.
We will be in Paris on March 27 to get first-hand coverage of the HUAWEI press event. In the meantime, are you excited about the launch of the P20 family?
