This new smartwatch pops open to reveal tiny wireless earbuds
- Huawei has announced the launch of the Watch Buds in the UK.
- The smartwatch comes with earbuds that can be stored in the watch itself.
Huawei announced the Watch Buds in China late last year, offering a smartwatch display that popped up to reveal storage slots for wireless earbuds. Now, the Chinese brand has announced that the new smartwatch is launching outside its home market.
Huawei confirmed in an emailed press release that the Watch Buds is available to pre-order in the UK today, with general sales kicking off from March 1.
You’re indeed getting a watch with integrated earbud storage, with the buds also charging when stowed away. You can’t slap any old wireless earbuds into the watch though, as you need to use the smaller, pill-shaped buds that come with the watch. We do worry about battery life with this smaller earbud design, and Huawei hasn’t issued details in this regard.
What else are you getting?
Otherwise, the Watch Buds brings a steel case, a 1.43-inch circular AMOLED screen (460 x 460), a leather strap, and a crown dial. Other notable features include heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, SpO2 tracking, and 80 sports modes.
Meanwhile, the earbuds can be worn in either ear (no specific left or right buds here), while also offering wide-area touch controls that allow you to tap your ears.
The Huawei Watch Buds will ordinarily set you back £449.99 (~$544). But customers who pay £30 to pre-order the device can get it for £389.99 (~$472).
