HUAWEI unveils a new sporty smartwatch and its first wireless speaker
HUAWEI announced the new P40 series today, but these new Android devices weren’t the only products the company revealed. HUAWEI also released the brand new HUAWEI Watch GT 2e and the Sound X wireless speaker.
We first heard HUAWEI was planning to release the Watch GT 2e last week. The renders and specs we saw then line up with what we see during today’s official release.

Huawei’s new smartwatch touts a 455mAh battery, which should last you up to 14 days during regular usage. It also features a circular AMOLED display, 4GB of storage, Bluetooth 5.1, and the HUAWEI HiSilicon Hi1132 processor. The smartwatch’s predecessor — the HUAWEI Watch GT 2 — also sees a new Champagne Gold color variant.
The Sound X is HUAWEI’s first foray into wireless speakers, and so far, it looks promising.
HUAWEI worked alongside French audio company Devialet to bring the Sound X to market. It features Devialet’s patented Speaker Active Matching (SAM) signal-processing and Push-Push speaker design, which reduces the speaker’s physical vibrations.
The Sound X produces 360-degree Hi-Res audio, and it touts HUAWEI Share built-in for wireless music streaming from any HUAWEI handset with EMUI 10.1. Handsets can also share audio with the speaker via Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth, but the company recommends HUAWEI Share for the best experience.
HUAWEI plans to release the Watch GT 2e in April for ₤199 (~$220). The Sound X wireless speaker should launch at the beginning of Summer, but HUAWEI hasn’t revealed any pricing information yet.
