If Square is down for you, you are not alone (Update: Issue fixed)
- Square, the popular digital payment service, was down for some users today
- The service had a ‘502 Bad Gateway’ error when users access the Square dashboard.
- The company has now fixed the problem
Update: August 17, 2021, 5:08 p.m. Eastern time – The Square status page is now reporting that the error message that some users encountered has been “fully resolved”.
Original story: August 17, 2021, 1:37 p.m. Eastern time – If you use Square, the popular digital payment system, you might be experiencing some issues accessing the service. If that’s true, don’t fret too much. You are definitely not alone.

The Downdetector.com site started getting reports from users about possible downtime just before 1 p.m. Eastern time. A check of the company’s US status page does indeed show that the service is having some issues. Specifically, it says that some users have reported getting a ‘502 Bad Gateway’ error when they access the Square Dashboard.
The good news is that while Square is down for some users, the company is currently working to fix the problems. We will update this story when we get more information.
