Jide AOC all in one PC

Jide, the team behind the desktop styled Android fork Remix OS, has today announced a partnership with display manufacturer AOC to launch a 24-inch all-in-one PC powered by its Remix OS. The all-in-one PC is targeted at the enterprise market, which isn’t a segment that we’ve traditionally seen Android cater for particularly well.

The all-in-one features a 23.8-inch 1920×1080 resolution display and is powered by an Amlogic S905 quad-core processor that is made up from four 2GHz Cortex-A53 CPU cores and a Mali-450 MP5 GPU clocked at 750MHz. The SoC is paired up with 2GB of RAM, making this equivalent to a rather low-end smartphone in terms of raw specs, but the OS is very lightweight. The PC is powered by Remix OS 2.0 and will be available in 16GB or 64GB internal memory options. There are also a selection of input and output options, including two HDMI ports for external displays, four USB ports, and an Ethernet jack if you prefer wired internet connections.

“We’re really excited about this partnership with Jide Technology and Remix OS because we believe the AIO will go far in bringing Android PCs to the enterprise market.”  – Ren Jingshun, AOC’s B2B General Manager

In case you missed our previous coverage of Remix OS, the heavily tweaked version of Android offers up substantially improved productivity features that will be familiar to PC users. There’s a task bar to house your favorite apps, and resizable and movable windows to quickly switch between all of your familiar Android apps. Given that proper multi-tasking is downright poor in the core Android release right now, although that might change with Android N, it’s easy to see how Jide’s version of the operating system might appeal to the enterprise market.

The Remix OS all-in-one PC will be shown off for the first time at CES Asia 2016 in Shanghai, before going on sale in China this summer.
