Leak: OnePlus 8T won't be joined by OnePlus 8T Pro
- OnePlus will reportedly ditch the OnePlus 8T Pro in favor of a standard model only.
- This would be the first time since 2018’s OnePlus 6T that we don’t see a Pro variant.
OnePlus has issued a standard and Pro flagship since early 2019’s OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. This trend has continued since then, with the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 8 being joined by Pro variants.
Now, frequent tipster Max J has confirmed on Twitter that this trend will be coming to an end with the upcoming OnePlus 8T. Check out his tweet below.

In case the tweet is too cryptic for you, the OnePlus 8T is said to have the codename of “kebab.” OnePlus also tends to slap a “b” at the end of a codename to denote a variant (e.g. kebabb). But the tipster has since clarified he’s using the “kebab2” name to simplify matters, adding that this means you can’t expect a OnePlus 8T Pro.

This would therefore be the first OnePlus flagship since 2018’s OnePlus 6T to lack a Pro variant. Although the OnePlus 6T was also available in a McLaren variant with faster charging and more RAM.
Nevertheless, it does raise questions about the OnePlus 8T’s price and features then. A recent Android Central leak points to a 120Hz screen like the OnePlus 8 Pro, but unlike the Pro variant, it seems as if the new device will lack a telephoto shooter. There’s no word on an IP rating or wireless charging either.
It looks like OnePlus will have a lot of consumers to please with one phone. The firm is faced with either taking the more affordable route as seen with previous vanilla models or making the OnePlus 8T a premium offering like the Pro variants.
