Lenovo's first Googlebook will cost less than you (and Google) thought

Google announced at its Googlebook launch last week that the Lenovo Googlebook 15 would be one of five models available in the first wave. The search giant also said that the device would start at $1,299. Now, Lenovo has revealed some good news.

The veteran computer maker has announced that the Lenovo Googlebook 15 will actually start at $1,099.99 when it goes on sale on October 4. That means it’s $200 cheaper than Google’s disclosed pricing. And you’re getting a fair amount of bang for your buck by 2026 standards.

Lenovo’s model has a 15.3-inch 2.8K OLED touch screen, making it the Googlebook with the largest screen at launch. In fact, Lenovo adds that this is the lightest 15-inch laptop in its portfolio at 2.84 pounds (1.29 kilograms). The laptop also comes with an Intel Core Ultra 5 325 processor, 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM, 256GB or 512GB of storage, and a 70Wh battery.

Other Lenovo Googlebook 15 specs include a 5MP webcam with a physical shutter, quad speakers with Dolby Atmos, a fingerprint scanner, the requisite Glowbar, and face unlock. As for I/O, you can expect Bluetooth 6.0, Wi-Fi 7, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a full-sized USB 3.2 port, an HDMI 2.0 output, and a headphone jack.

Either way, the $1,099.99 price tag makes this a more intriguing proposition than the originally claimed $1,299 price. It’s still more expensive than Acer’s $900 convertible Googlebook, but the larger screen might be worth the premium for some people.
