LG delivers on its promise, Android 10 is now out for the LG G8 in the US
Update: January 20, 2020 (05:15 PM ET): LG promised faster updates for its devices and it looks like it’s actually following through on that promise. Last month, the Android 10 update began rolling out to LG G8 ThinQ South Korean handsets, and now it looks like the update is landing in the US too.
The update began rolling out to Verizon and Sprint devices a few days ago, but we expect other carrier devices should get the update soon too. The update brings tons of new features to the G8 as well December’s security patch. We are glad to see LG working to release more timely updates, given how terrible it’s been with updates in recent years.
If you have an LG G8 ThinQ, you can check for the update by navigating to Settings > System updates on your device.

LG doesn’t have the greatest track record when it comes to Android updates. However, the company has promised that it will do better going forward, and evidence suggests that it will keep that promise when it comes to LG G8 ThinQ updates (at least so far).
Take note that the LG G8 ThinQ updates don’t land on all devices in all countries on all carriers at the same time. Therefore, it may be a while before you see an update, even if LG formally launches it.

The LG G8 ThinQ launched on February 24, 2019, with the then-latest version of Android, Android 9 Pie.
In early December 2019, LG started pushing out Android 10 to the LG G8 ThinQ but only in its native South Korea. Android 10 will start pushing out globally very soon.
The new skin over Android 10 looks a lot like Samsung’s One UI 2.0. You can see some screenshots of the new skin here.
