Meet the ThinQ WK9: LG's Assistant-powered smart display
News

When LG announced its all-new ThinQ smart speaker and smart display back at CES 2018, the company left a lot of questions unanswered – namely, their prices. Fortunately, it seems as though B&H Photo has some answers for us. The New York-based electronics equipment store is taking pre-orders for LG’s upcoming Google Assistant-powered devices, meaning we now know how much they’ll cost.

The ThinQ brand is essentially LG’s answer to the Google Home family. The WK7 is a “premium smart AI audio product” with advanced high-performance audio technology thanks to LG’s partnership with Meridian Audio. B&H Photo is asking $196.99 for the WK7, indicating that as we guessed, the ThinQ speaker will sit somewhere between the regular Google Home and the Google Home Max in terms of price (and probably quality too).

The more interesting device from the ThinQ family is the WK9. Sporting an 8-inch screen, two speakers tuned by Meridian Audio as well as a camera for video calls, the WK9 will be one of the first Google Assistant-powered smart displays to be available. The asking price, according to B&H Photo, is $296.99. Not bad, considering the Google Home Max costs $399.

It’s worth noting that B&H Photo is shipping these for free to Canada though you will be responsible for additional tax and custom duties.

Will you be getting one of these ThinQ devices, or are you waiting for Google to release second-generation Google Home speakers?
