LG confirms V10 successor is coming later this quarter
LG has just posted its Q2 2016 financial earnings, and it looks like the company’s mobile unit isn’t doing too well right now. Despite the total operating loss of roughly $132 million this past quarter, things might start shaping up sometime soon. In the earnings statement, LG revealed that a new device in the V series will be here sometime later this quarter.
LG didn’t give any more information about the next V-series device, but there are a few rumors floating around that point to a possible release timeframe.
A report surfaced a few weeks ago claiming that LG has decided to move the launch of the V20 up from October to September, likely due to a few key factors. For starters, Apple will likely launch the next iPhone in September, and a V20 launch in the same month might take some of the attention away from Apple’s new offerings. Plus, it’s clear now that the G5 isn’t selling too well, so LG probably wants to bring its fans a more compelling option sooner rather than later.
As for specs, we’ve basically heard no rumors up to this point. We don’t even have confirmation that the phone will be called the V20, after all. It’s worth noting that the V10 sported some top-of-the-line specs at launch, which makes the thought of the V20 even more exciting.
