The LG V30S ThinQ is more expensive than the Galaxy S9 in South Korea
- LG V30S ThinQ pricing revealed for South Korean launch.
- Standard V30S ThinQ and “Plus” variant go on sale on March 6th.
- Both models priced over 1 million KRW – more than the Samsung Galaxy S9.
The awkwardly named LG V30S ThinQ and somehow-even-more-awkwardly-named LG V30S Plus ThinQ have launched in South Korea. Announced at MWC 2018, the pair are now available to order in LG’s home country ahead of a retail release tomorrow (March 9th).
Pricing starts at KRW 1,048,300 for the standard V30S ThinQ with 6 GB or RAM and 128 GB internal storage. The V30S Plus ThinQ ups the storage to 256 GB and will retail for KRW 1,097,800, but is otherwise identical to the base model.
When converted into dollars, you’re looking at just under $1,000 for the regular V30S ThinQ.
By comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S9 is on pre-sale in South Korea for KRW 957,000, while the 64 GB Galaxy S9 Plus is available for KRW 1,056,000. The original V30, meanwhile, was priced at KRW 949,300 at launch last year.
LG has yet to announce international pricing or availability for the new V30 variant, but we’ll be sure to share any official details as soon as we have them.
As a quick refresher, the V30S ThinQ is LG’s first release since it announced plans to dial back its strict annual release schedule in favor of a more iterative approach. To that end, the V30S ThinQ is very much an upgraded V30 rather than a true successor.
The V30S ThinQ comes in more colors and houses more RAM and internal storage than the vanilla V30, as well as a range of new AI-powered camera features. It also runs Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
