You can now apply for a job at McDonald's via Google Assistant with the Apply Thru service.

Voice assistants are helping us to do a variety of tasks, and the technology is only getting more powerful as time goes by. Don’t believe us? Well, McDonald’s now lets you apply for a job via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

The McDonald’s Apply Thru service, as it’s called, is available in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Spain, and the UK. Fortunately, the company plans to bring it to more countries in the coming months. So how does it actually work?

Google Assistant users can simply say “Okay Google, talk to McDonald’s Apply Thru” to initiate the process. But the fast food chain says you’ll eventually be able to say “Okay Google, help me get a job at McDonald’s.” Meanwhile, Alexa users can get the ball rolling by saying “Alexa, help me get a job at McDonald’s.”

Once you’ve issued the initial command, the service will ask a few basic questions. These questions include your name, location, and job area of interest.

Unfortunately, you can’t actually complete your application via Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa. Instead, users then receive a text message with a link to complete the process. Hopefully the McDonald’s Apply Thru service eventually allows you to submit more information to further reduce reliance on a web link.

Nevertheless, we’re glad to see McDonald’s take advantage of voice assistants in this way, and we hope more companies hop on the bandwagon. Now, about ordering chicken nuggets via Google Assistant.
