Affordable Meizu M3 Note launches with fingerprint scanner and aluminum body

Meizu has unveiled its latest large affordable smartphone in China today, known as the M3 Note. This new handset is the quintessential Meizu smartphone, offering up some very reasonable specifications at a price point that is arguably even more appealing.

The M3 Note boasts a 5.5-inch display with a 1920×1080 resolution. This works out to 403 pixels per inch, which is certainly sharp enough for a very enjoyable viewing experience. Powering the handset is a octa-core MediaTek Helio P10, which features eight Cortex-A53 CPU cores split into two clusters with a peak clock speed of 1.8GHz and 1GHz each. This should prove more than adequate for your day to day tasks, but isn’t going to rival more expensive handsets. The Meizu M3 Note comes in two different memory configurations. The less expensive variant is equipped with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, or customers can opt for a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage option. Both models come with a microSD card port, should you need to boost the available storage, which also doubles up as a second SIM card slot.

The handset packs in a few other notable features. There’s a 13 megapixel rear camera with PDAF auto-focus, along with a 5 megapixel front camera. The M3 Note also manages to squeeze in a fingerprint scanner that is embedded into the home button, which can apparently register a print in just 0.2 seconds. Meizu seems to have done well with build materials too, as the phone boasts a 6000 series aluminum unibody and 2.5D front glass.

The Meizu M3 Note is scheduled to go on sale in China first on April 11th. The 2GB RAM model will be priced at CNY 799 ($125), while the 3GB variant will cost you CNY 999 ($155). We’ll have to wait and see about availability in other regions.
