Unlimited offers have proved popular in 2017, with many US carriers having a go at them. Keeping its foot on the gas, MetroPCS, T-Mobile’s prepaid arm, has just launched a new unlimited deal offering you unlimited talk, text, and data for just $50 a month. What’s more, you can add up to four additional lines for just $25 a piece, so a family of five can get all the wireless service they might need for just $150 a month, with all taxes and fees included.

If this sounds too good to be true, it might be because it is. Not unlike Verizon’s unlimited prepaid offer, MetroPCS will limit video streams to 480p. While this may not be a deal breaker for some, if you consume a lot of video content and want it at the highest quality, you might want to steer clear from this plan.

What’s more, if you live in an area of heavy wireless congestion and you are using more than 32 GB of data a month, you might experience lowered speeds until your next billing cycle. Also, this plan doesn’t allow tethering, so if you rely on your smartphone to keep other devices connected, you’ll have to look elsewhere.

If you want to buy a new smartphone as well as get a new plan, MetroPCS offers $100 rebate for every line you switch from a competing service to its own. This deal applies for up to five lines and you can use the rebate to purchase any handset MetroPCS has on sale right now.

All things considered, this doesn’t sound like a bad offer. It has its drawbacks for those with specific requirements (like high-quality video streaming), but it should serve the average user well.
