Mobvoi refreshes TicWatch Pro with more RAM, better durability
The Mobvoi TicWatch Pro is already one of the best Wear OS smartwatches you can buy. However, it’s outshined by a few competitors, most notably the Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch. One of the biggest reasons for this is the Fossil watch has twice the RAM over the TicWatch Pro.
Not so anymore! Mobvoi is giving the Pro a slight makeover this year. The new variant — appropriately referred to as the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 2020 — will double the RAM and up the durability of the 2018 version.
Let’s talk about the amount of RAM first. The 2018 TicWatch Pro has 512MB of RAM. While this is adequate for running Wear OS, it’s not enough to make the operating system really fly. With the 2020 refresh, Mobvoi is bringing the RAM to a solid 1GB, which is the same amount we saw in the Fossil Gen 5. This should make the TicWatch Pro buttery smooth.

Next, Mobvoi is bringing MIL-STD-810G durability to the refreshed model. This means the smartwatch will be better protected from water, dust, temperature fluctuations, and shock. It also guarantees protection in water up to 1.5m deep for up to 30 minutes.
Other than these two upgrades, the rest of the specs and design of the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro remain the same. Fortunately, the price of the watch isn’t going up by that much, either: the 2018 version starts at $250 while this 2020 version starts at $260. That’s not bad at all!
The Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 2020 will land in the United Kingdom first for £222.99 (~$288). In the UK, the watch is available now from Amazon. Here in the United States, we’ll need to wait until March to get it. The buy page at Amazon, though, is already live.
