Motorola may be the king in the mid-range Android market, but the dominance no longer extends to software updates. The company shared its Android 11 update plans late last year, and they only held good news for a small set of customers. Now you might be wondering which Motorola phones are lucky enough to receive the Android 11 update. We’re here with everything you need to know.

If you have a recent Motorola device — think 2020 or maybe 2019 if you’re lucky — there’s a chance that you already have your update. Unfortunately, it becomes slightly confusing to track updates once you get into the Android One program, as devices may participate in some countries while they skip others.

As you can see from the list below, if you own a Motorola phone that came out before 2019, don’t expect the company to push the latest version of Google’s operating system to your device. You’ll already find Android 11 running on Motorola Razr 5G devices, as well as the Moto Edge and Edge Plus. Even the Motorola One series is running on the latest version of Android despite previous claims that some US variants would miss out.

Thankfully, update lists like the one above may become less common in the future. Google and Qualcomm recently announced a partnership to deliver four years of support to future Snapdragon-equipped devices. That pledge is likely to help low-end and mid-range devices the most. Now that we know which devices have already made the leap, which phones are left? Well, the news isn’t great, nor is it entirely clear.
