Motorola getting ready to release Android 5.1 for Moto X (2013 & 2014), Moto E (2015) in the U.S.
It’s been a couple of months since we’ve gotten our first taste of Android 5.1 Lollipop, and the update has already begun rolling out to a number of different devices. If you’re the owner of a Moto X (1st Gen. or 2nd Gen.) or Moto E (2nd Gen.) and happen to live in the United States, you’re in luck. By the looks of it, Motorola is preparing to roll out Android 5.1 to your mobile devices any day now.
Motorola has just posted release notes laying out what users can expect with the update to Android 5.1. For folks who own a Moto X (2nd Gen.) on AT&T, your software version will be upgraded to version 23.11.21, and Moto X (2nd Gen.) owners on T-Mobile (or Pure Edition Moto X owners) will see their software version jump up to 23.11.14. In addition, 1st Gen. Moto X owners in the U.S. will see software version 222.21.2, and Moto E (2nd Gen.) owners will be upgraded to version 23.11.15.

Now, Android 5.1 is a big update, but not in terms of software features specific to individual Motorola devices. (Check out this video for all of the changes you’ll see in Android 5.1). The big news here is that Motorola is planning to release 5.1 to these devices any moment now, so we need to keep our eye out for updates in the near future.
If you get the update on your device, be sure to let us know! Otherwise, we’ll let you know if we hear anything.
