Motorola confirms that Lollipop is rolling out to Moto X Pure Edition and to the Moto G (2nd gen)
We had already reported on the Moto X 2014 Pure Edition and Moto G 2014 getting Android 5.0 Lollipop soaktests, and early this morning we even reported that the Moto G (2014) was said to be rolling out to all users and not just those lucky enough to get in on the experience early through the soaktest.
Now Motorola has officially confirmed that it is rolling out the Lollipop OTA for the following products:
- Moto X (2nd Gen.) Pure Edition
- Moto G (2nd Gen.) US GSM
- Moto G (2nd Gen.) Global GSM retail versions sold in the US
No word on carrier-branded Moto X (2nd gen), internationally sold Moto G (2nd gen) devices or the rest of its line-up just yet. That said, Motorola is known for being pretty quick when it comes to updates, so we wouldn’t be too surprised if other devices starting seeing some Lollipop love sooner rather than later.
Aside from the new Android 5.0 Lollipop features, there doesn’t appear to be anything new when it comes to Motorola-specific features — and that’s not a bad thing. Part of the reason Motorola is able to push updates out so quickly is their adherence to stock-like Android standards. Have you received the update yet for your Moto X or Moto G? If so, let us know what you think in the comments!
