TL;DR
  • Motorola is teasing a global launch for an Edge series phone.
  • The device could be the Moto Edge X30 launched in China late last year.
  • It packs the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and other flagship specs to match.

Motorola was the first OEM to launch a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 smartphone in the form of the Moto Edge X30. However, the phone’s availability has been limited to China until now. It looks like that’s finally about to change as the company is teasing an upcoming global announcement just ahead of MWC 2022.

Moto is preparing for a February 24 global launch. The Twitter teaser all but confirms that the Edge X30 is set to step out of China. It’s unclear if Motorola will launch a whole spate of devices or if it’ll be just one phone.

Nevertheless, we hear that the Moto Edge X30 will gain a new name when it goes global. The device could be called the Moto Edge 30 Pro while retaining the same specs as its Chinese counterpart. That means you’ll get the latest Qualcomm chipset, a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a triple rear camera setup with two 50MP shooters and a 2MP sensor, a 5,000mAh battery, and 68W charging.

You should also get plenty of RAM and storage as the phone tops out with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

As far as pricing is concerned, the Moto Edge X30 starts at 2,999 Chinese yuan (~$471) and goes up to 3,399 yuan (~$533) for the variants with a display cutout. The one with an under-display camera costs 3,999 yuan (~$627). Global prices will most likely vary but should be in the same ballpark.
