A new Motorola Razr is here, but you may have trouble getting one
- Motorola has unveiled a new Razr phone coming exclusively to China.
- The foldable offers a 144Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip, and a 3,500mAh battery.
- The Razr will have a 50MP + 13MP instant focus camera and a 32MP selfie camera.
Right on the heels of Samsung announcing its Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, Motorola is having its own foldable reveal party with the announcement of its new China-exclusive Motorola Razr 2022.
The new handset is designed in a way that focuses on minimalism, compactness, and pocketability. Included with this sleek form factor are an expanded QuickView screen, a full-sized OLED display, and impressive rear and selfie cameras.
Specifically, this Razr will sport a 6.7-inch main display with a matte finish. That display will offer a blazing fast 144Hz rate, the highest refresh rate on any foldable phone at the moment. It will also have a smaller 2.7-inch interactive Quick View display, similar to the previous Razr model.
Another impressive feature coming to the new Razr is a 50MP + 13MP instant focus rear camera with a 32MP selfie camera. Combined with optical image stabilization (OIS), Motorola claims the setup to be the most advanced camera in any smartphone.
As for its chipset, the Motorola Razr will carry a top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip. It will also offer Dolby Atmos for premium sound quality. And last, but not least, the company has confirmed the device will have a 3,500mAh battery.
When asked about what people want from a future Razr phone, some of the biggest asks were competitive price, more power, and a bigger battery. Compared to previous models, it seems Motorola is looking to deliver on some of the features the public wanted most from the Razr. The phone costs 6,000 Chinese yuan (~$888).
Given that Motorola has previously released its last two Razr phones globally, it’s an interesting decision by the company to go exclusive to a single country. However, with Samsung’s new foldable devices coming out soon, the Razr would likely have quite an uphill battle to fight.
