Motorola's Android 17 rollout reaches another flagship foldable
Oct 22, 2026 — 3:54 PM ET

- Motorola has started rolling out stable Android 17 to the Razr Ultra 2025, also known as the Razr 60 Ultra outside North America.
- The update includes a refreshed design, smarter notifications, improved multitasking, and enhanced security controls.
- The release is rolling out to unlocked models in the US, but availability appears limited for now.
While all eyes are on when Motorola will bring its Signature 27 flagship to the US, the company is giving existing phone owners something to look forward to. Its stable Android 17 rollout has been gathering momentum, with the Razr Ultra 2026 and several other devices receiving the update earlier this month. Now, Motorola is turning back the clock by a year, bringing the latest Android experience to the Razr Ultra 2025.
A Reddit user reports waking up to find Android 17 already installed on their unlocked Razr Ultra 2025, also known as the Razr 60 Ultra outside North America. The user is based in the northeastern US and says they’re using an unlocked AT&T model on US Mobile.
An accompanying screenshot confirms the update carries software version A171VLH.48-18-7, dated October 20. The changelog highlights a refreshed design, smarter notifications, improved multitasking, and enhanced security controls. Motorola’s broader Android 17 update also introduces features such as redesigned Quick Settings, stackable widgets, and notification summaries.
However, the update apparently came with a few unwelcome surprises. The user claims it automatically installed TikTok and reactivated Moto AI without their consent. They also noticed that the external display’s clock now overlaps with the camera lenses, making it less useful for checking the time. Otherwise, they haven’t encountered any major problems.
These observations come from a single user, so we’ll have to see whether others report experiencing the same behavior. Several Razr Ultra 2025 owners in the Reddit discussion are still waiting for Android 17, suggesting it’s a gradual rollout.
To check whether it’s available on your device, head to Settings > System updates > Check for updates.
