Motorola's Signature 27 appears in new teaser featuring a giant camera island

Motorola released its Signature flagship in some markets earlier this year, though it skipped a US release. Recent teasers suggest the company may change that with the Signature 27, scheduled to break cover on Tuesday. Motorola is now offering a closer look at its upcoming high-end smartphone, just a day before its launch.

In a post on X, the Motorola US account shared an image showing part of the Signature 27’s rear panel. The focus is on the camera island, which includes four sensors and what is presumably the LED flash sitting on top of a mammoth camera island. This arrangement of the sensors is likely to trigger trypophobia for some users.

The first Motorola Signature phone launched with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip, which sits below the Elite in Qualcomm’s hierarchy. Rumors say the manufacturer could equip the Signature 27 with the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, making it a true flagship device.

Beyond chipset speculation, Motorola’s teasers so far suggest the cameras will be a key strength of the Signature 27. We’ll have to wait until the smartphone is officially revealed tomorrow to see whether all that hype holds up.

Another detail to watch with the next Motorola flagship is software support. The first-gen Signature promised seven OS upgrades and seven years of security updates, matching the support Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy flagships receive.

These aspects, coupled with high-quality cameras and possibly the next top-tier Qualcomm mobile chip, should make for an interesting flagship, particularly in the US.
