TL;DR
  • Netflix is organizing a real-life Squid Games competition.
  • People from any part of the world can participate.
  • The competition will be streamed on Netflix as a 10-part series.

Riding on the popularity of its Korean survival thriller, Squid Game, Netflix has announced a real-life competition that’ll see participants playing games inspired by the original show. Think Red Light, Green Light.

The upcoming reality show is called Squid Game: The Challenge. Like the show, it will feature a group of 456 people playing children’s games in pursuit of a large cash prize — $4.6 million, to be exact.

Netflix says, “Their strategies, alliances, and character will be put to the test while competitors are eliminated around them. The stakes are high, but in this game, the worst fate is going home empty-handed.”

The streaming service is now recruiting participants for the game. “For this round, the Front Man is in search of English-language speakers from any part of the world,” Netflix writes in a press release.

The 10-episode competition series will be filmed in the UK.

Meanwhile, the second installment of Squid Game is also on the Horizon. You can read all about it in our Squid Game season 2 roundup.
