- The New Pokémon Snap game is coming to the Nintendo Switch on April 30.
- As with the original game, your goal is to take the best pictures of Pokémon creatures.
- You can also throw out fluffruit food to attract Pokémon to you.
Update: January 14, 2021: The Pokémon Company has finally confirmed that New Pokémon Snap will be released on April 30 for the Nintendo Switch. The game will have you explore the new Lental region to take photographs of Pokémon.
Original article: June 17, 2020: Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are bringing back Pokémon Snap from the days of the Nintendo 64. This time, New Pokémon Snap is coming to the Switch. Fans of the classic franchise will get to take gorgeous pictures of the beloved creatures from the Pokémon universe.
Unfortunately, Nintendo didn’t reveal too much information about the next game in the Pokémon Snap franchise on its website, other than giving us a few details of the gameplay and graphical style. That’s a very Nintendo way to name the game, but at least it makes it clear exactly what the game is.
Bandai Namco Studios is developing the game, while Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are publishing it.
Nintendo described some of the environments players will explore in New Pokémon Snap. The game promises to deliver jungles and beaches where players can take photos of their favorite Pokémon to build a Photodex. The company promises the new game “brings the gameplay of the 1999 Pokémon Snap game for the Nintendo 64 system to life on the Nintendo Switch system with unknown islands to discover and different Pokémon to see.”
For hardcore fans, the game will show Pokémon doing “previously unseen Pokémon behaviors,” which could change the way players perceive some of their favorite creatures from the Pokémon universe.
Sadly, Nintendo didn’t announce when New Pokémon Snap would be available, only saying that it’s coming to Nintendo Switch.
