The New York Times Crossword app finally makes its Android debut
Long before smartphones came around, many people got their daily entertainment by solving the challenging crossword puzzle in the New York Times newspaper. Today, the mobile version of that classic game finally launched for Android in the Google Play Store, after versions were previously released for iOS and even for Windows Phone.
Not only does the NYT Crossword app give people access to the same daily puzzle that’s in the newspaper, they can also go back and try to solve over 20 years of previous crosswords. While access to the full crosswords does require a paid subscription, the app also offers access to quick mini-puzzles for free. In addition, the app offers a way to purchase and download themed puzzle packs. Users can continue playing puzzles across more than one device by signing up for an account.
In order to get full access to all the daily crosswords, you have to sign up for a subscription, which costs $39.95 a year or $6.95 a month. If you are a home or digital subscriber to the New York Times newspaper itself, you can get a 50 percent discount for the crossword subscription.
Are you a fan of filling out the New York Times crossword, and if so will you be downloading and subscribing to this long awaited Android app?
