😎 Good morning and welcome to Thursday’s Daily Authority. Paula here, covering for Hadlee as he explores all things MWC in sunny Barcelona. Meanwhile, here it’s a balmy 4°C, but we’ve got all the top tech news hot off the press, including leaked Galaxy A34 and A54 renders, info on Intel’s next chips, a fix for Google Assistant’s recent issues, circus holograms, and more.

Leaked Galaxy A34 and A54 renders show off every angle

A week since the last leak, and a fresh batch of Galaxy A34 and A54 renders has leaked online.

  • This time around (via WinFuture), we see the phones from every angle, as well as a look at all four colorways.
  • Samsung’s upcoming mid-rangers look as though they’ll follow the company’s 2023 design philosophy, with no camera island, curved edges, and a flat front and back.
  • Both devices look pretty similar despite the A34 being Samsung’s value-focused offering and the A54 being its high-end mid-range handset.
  • Visually, the only external difference looks like the selfie camera, with the A34 using an Infinity-U display cutout while the A54 opts for an Infinity-O display cutout.

The internals are a different story, though.

  • Rumored specs reveal the A54 will likely pack an Exynos 1380 chip, with the A34 purportedly offering a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 processor.
  • There may be significant differences when it comes to the cameras, too.
  • The A54’s triple camera setup could bring a 50MP main with OIS, 12MP ultrawide, and a 5MP depth sensor.
  • In contrast, the A34 looks like it might get 48MP main, 8MP ultrawide, and 5MP macro sensors.
  • We already know to expect a price hike when these handsets land.

We still don’t have a confirmed release date for either device, but we expect them to arrive sometime later this month…

Thursday Thing

hologram circus
The Washington Post

Live animals in circuses are quickly becoming a thing of the past, with over 150 cities and counties across 37 states in the US limiting or barring them, according to the Animal Legal Defense Fund. Now one company in Europe has gone a step further, introducing a “cruelty-free” circus that replaces animals with 3D holograms.

  • First to implement the new tech was the Circus-Theater Roncalli in Germany, which introduced the holograms in 2019 after partnering with an augmented reality firm.
  • French circus L’Écocirque soon followed with lion, elephant, and beluga whale holograms.
  • Using 3D animations, photography, and virtual rendering, the holograms are custom-built for the circus, with 11 digital laser projectors around the stage flashing animations onto a circular net.

Who knows, you might see this technology soon at a circus near you…

Have a great rest of your week!
