Mobile phone accessory makers are a dime a dozen these days, so it takes a lot of work for companies to stand out from the crowd. One way a new company called Nimble is doing this is by creating all of its various products using eco-friendly materials like plant-based bioplastics, hemp fabrics, recycled plastic bottles, and recycled aluminum (via Engadget).
Nimble was founded by some of the people that started Mophie, another mobile accessory company. This time around, though, they are making products that not only feature a premium design and are Earth conscious, but are also not too expensive.
Currently, Nimble is making portable battery banks, wireless chargers, and other small accessories like USB-C cables. In addition to several USB-A ports, each of the battery packs include a USB-C 18W Power Delivery port and range from $50 to $100 depending on the size of the battery.
The wireless chargers range in cost between $40 and $60 and come in various form factors such as a travel kit, a charging stand, and even a dual charging pad. And what’s even better is that Nimble has designed its wireless chargers to work perfectly with Samsung and other Android devices. This means that each wireless charger will deliver up to 10W of power which allows phones like the Galaxy Note 9 to charge at full speed.
Nimble wants to show how serious it is about sustainability so the company has launched several initiatives. First, for every product it sells, the company has pledged to recycle one pound of e-waste. Second, Nimble includes a recyclable bag with every product and offers a pre-paid shipping label so that customers can mail back their old and unused tech so that it can be properly recycled. And lastly, all of the company’s packaging is made from biodegradable scrap paper and includes no harmful dyes or inks.
