The Nokia X6 is not coming to the US (Update: Nor anywhere outside of China)
In an email earlier today, an HMD Global spokesperson said, "We can confirm that the Nokia X6 is exclusive to the China region only and there are currently no further launch plans to announce for other markets."
It's a disappointing result as the X6 looked like it had a lot to offer for its price. Nokia fans in India and Europe may instead have to go through unofficial channels if they want to get their hands on the new handset.
Previous coverage (05/17): HMD Global has confirmed that the Nokia X6 won’t arrive in the U.S.. A spokesperson for the company informed us of the news in a brief email yesterday.
The Nokia X6 was unveiled on Wednesday in China, and introduces a new design approach for HMD Global, as its first Nokia phone to employ a display notch. It features a 5.8-inch, 19:9, FHD+ screen that appears to cover a significant portion of the front of the device.
It could have been a very interesting option in the U.S. had it launched there for circa $200 as it does in China. Before you give up all hope, though, remember that Stateside Nokia launches were ruled out in recent the past, only to be confirmed later.
The Nokia X6 may still be released in India, but China remains the only confirmed region for the time being. For more on the Nokia X6, head to our announcement post at the link.
