OnePlus is gearing up to introduce its next flagship, the OnePlus 16, in China, and it’s not holding back on the spec sheet. Ahead of the October 12 launch, official teasers confirm that the upcoming OnePlus 16 will feature a colossal 9,000mAh battery and an ultra-fast 185Hz display. While we have already tracked early details around the OnePlus 16 specs, these latest reveals show OnePlus aiming for outright supremacy in endurance and screen fluidness, even if the phone won’t see a release in the US and EU.
According to OnePlus China President Li Jie Louis on Weibo (machine-translated post in the image below), OnePlus partnered with BOE to develop the fourth-generation “Oriental Screen” (X4 luminescent material). This BOE X4 panel supports a system-wide 165Hz refresh rate for day-to-day scrolling across apps, while gaming pushes it up to 185Hz.
OnePlus claims its full-link hardware tuning keeps power draw close to standard 120Hz displays. The display also incorporates OnePlus’s in-house P4 display chip for improved motion clarity, comes with ultra-narrow symmetrical bezels, true hardware 1-nit low-brightness tuning for night viewing, and TÜV Rheinland eye-care certification.
On the endurance side, OnePlus officially announced that the OnePlus 16 comes with a new silicon-based 9,000mAh “Glacier Battery” paired with 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. Backing the battery is an OPPO-developed power management chip designed to maximize efficiency, maintain peak frame rates even at low battery levels, and preserve battery health for at least five years of daily use.
OnePlus has previously confirmed that the OnePlus 16 will come with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, a 200MP 1/1.4-inch main camera, a 50MP 3x IMX882 telephoto camera, and a 50MP ultrawide shooter. One color variant of the OnePlus 16 will feature a new “Interstellar Lighting Effect” on the back that lights up to notify users of incoming calls, texts, game highlights, and more.
The OnePlus 16 launches next week in China, and as much as everyone here in the US would like to buy it, OnePlus’ exit from the market means it’s pretty much guaranteed never to launch here. It remains to be seen whether the flagship will make its way to markets outside China, where OnePlus continues to operate.
