OnePlus 3 and 3T owners can finally taste Android 9 Pie in beta form
Over half a year after OnePlus announced that the OnePlus 3 and 3T would get Android 9 Pie, the company finally made good on that promise earlier today.
According to the announcement, Android 9 Pie is now available as a Community Beta build. Those on the latest Open Beta version can download the appropriate file and update their devices through Recovery Update. Those on the latest stable version can download the file and either go through Local or Recovery Update.
Along with Android 9 Pie and all of its features, the new Community Beta build for the OnePlus 3 and 3T includes the April 2019 Android security patch. The update also includes a new Do Not Disturb mode with adjustable settings, Gaming Mode 3.0 with a text notification mode and notification for calls, Google Duo integration in the Phone app, and Google Lens integration in the Camera app.
Impressively, this means that the OnePlus 3 and 3T now have three Android platform updates to their names. Very few other devices have such a distinct honor, so here’s hoping that other manufacturers learn a thing or two from OnePlus.
