You'll be able to buy the OnePlus 3, at launch, without an invite
Finally.
OnePlus’ Carl Pei has released a blog post announcing that the OnePlus 3 will be available for purchase, from day one, without and invite. Not only that, the company is ditching the invite system for all future OnePlus products. Yes, really.
One of the biggest complaints users have had about OnePlus products in the past is that they’ve been too difficult to purchase. With the launch on the OnePlus One, OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X, consumers could only purchase one of the new devices if they had an invite, which were insanely difficult to get a hold of, at least at the start. Of course, the company had their reasons for putting the invite system in place — it was a good way to control the amount of inventory that was leaving the warehouse. But now OnePlus is much bigger, and they can probably afford to produce many more units than they could in the past.
Carl Pei writes:
With the OnePlus 3, we’re officially saying goodbye to invites. It’s a big step for us as a company, our fans, and fellow tech enthusiasts. After sending out millions of invites over the past two years, it’s hard to not think back to the early days and how far we’ve come. We’re proud to have reached a point where we feel confident in making our new device available without invites from day one.
The OnePlus 3 will be officially unveiled, in virtual reality, on Tuesday, June 14. During the first two hours of the launch event, the OnePlus 3 will be available for purchase in the Loop VR experience. Doors to the Loop open at 12:30pm EST, and open sales for the OnePlus 3 commence at 3:00pm EST.
I know many of you are probably very happy with this news. If you have any thoughts, we’d love to hear them in the comments!
