OnePlus 6 update adds notch hide function, slo-mo video recording, and more
OnePlus has rolled out its first update to the OnePlus 6. The update was recently posted in the OnePlus forums and it introduces the May Android security patches, as well as a handful of other worthwhile improvements.
The infamous notch has received the promised “hide” option in the settings. When enabled, this elongates the black space at the top of the display so that the notch can’t be seen.
The camera, meanwhile, has received slow-motion video recording in 720p@480fps and 1080p@240fps, as well as quick capture ability in Portrait Mode.
OnePlus has also preloaded the OnePlus Switch apps which helps users transfer data from a previous OnePlus device to the new one. See the official patch notes in the screen-grab below.
You can install the update manually by picking up the necessary files here, or you can wait for it to arrive over-the-air. We don’t know exactly how long that could take, but it shouldn’t be more than a few days.
