The OnePlus 6 was announced in May 2018, but that didn’t stop the Chinese manufacturer from releasing its next flagship a mere five months later. As most of the OnePlus 6T specs haven’t changed much compared to the company’s outgoing handset, there isn’t much reason to upgrade. But if you don’t already own the OnePlus 6, then you should definitely give the OnePlus 6T a look.

OnePlus in 2019: A force to be reckoned with
Features

The most significant changes arriving with the OnePlus 6T can be found on the front of the phone. In addition to the slightly larger 6.41-inch AMOLED display and 2,340 x 1,080 resolution, there’s a much smaller “teardrop” notch, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and Gorilla Glass 6. While we’ll have to wait and see how well the new in-display fingerprint sensor will work in the long-term, the minimal notch contains the ambient, distance, RGB sensor, and front-facing camera.

Unfortunately, it looks like the leaked specs sheet was slightly off. Instead of the rumored 20MP front-facing camera, the OnePlus 6T continues to sport a 16MP sensor with a f/2.0 aperture and EIS.

OnePlus 6T back

Around back, the cameras on the OnePlus 6T don’t change at all either. This means that the handset uses a 16MP sensor for the primary camera and a 20MP secondary shooter. The main one utilizes OIS and EIS, while the secondary sensor is mainly used for the phone’s portrait mode.

The most significant changes arriving with the OnePlus 6T can be found on the front of the phone.

Internally, the OnePlus 6T specs include an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 CPU that can boost up to 2.8GHz and an Adreno 630 GPU. The phone will come in multiple variations that either include 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of built-in storage.

In addition to running Oxygen OS based on Android 9 Pie, the OnePlus 6T includes a degree of water and dust resistance (but no IP rating), a dual nano-SIM slot (single on the T-Mobile model), and a 3,700mAh battery that utilizes OnePlus’ Fast Charge technology.

Lastly, we have to wave goodbye to the headphone jack. While the 3.5mm port was available in the company’s previous smartphone, OnePlus 6T will only include a USB-C port. Fortunately, OnePlus includes a Type-C to headphone jack adaptor in the phone’s box.
