OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro get second beta of Android Q
If you want to give an unstable version of Android Q a try on your OnePlus 7 or OnePlus 7 Pro, the latest update is available now! OnePlus just posted its second developer preview of Android Q for the OnePlus 7 series.
Since this is the second preview, it will be a little less buggy than the first preview — but it’s still not a good idea to use this as your daily driver. There are already some well-known bugs, including broken features and stability problems.
This second developer preview of Android Q for the OnePlus 7 Pro and its vanilla variant comes in only a few days after the same preview arrived for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T.
If you are currently running a Pie-based version of Oxygen OS (either the public beta or the stable version), switching to this second developer preview of Android Q will require a full wipe of your device. You will also need to re-wipe if you want to switch back to a Pie-based ROM.
If you are currently on the first developer preview of Android Q, you can do a dirty flash with no data loss.
OnePlus offers all the downloads and instructions you’ll need to get started at this forum post. If you want to give Android Q a shot on your OnePlus 6/6T, visit this forum post for that developer preview.
Last year, OnePlus was able to push the first stable version of Android 9 Pie to the OnePlus 6 only 45 days after Google revealed the latest update to Android. It will be interesting to see how fast the company will be this time around.
We expect Google to unveil the stable version of Android Q in August.
