The OnePlus 7 Pro offered one of the best smartphone screens in 2019, delivering a QHD+ resolution and a slick 90Hz refresh rate. OnePlus is making displays a priority in 2020 too, touting a 120Hz refresh rate for at least one device.

Now, OnePlus has revealed that the OnePlus 8 series has received the “highest overall display rating and Best Smartphone Display Award” from screen testing firm DisplayMate.

OnePlus’s new device family earned an A+ rating from the testing firm, saying it set or matched over 10 records in various display categories. These categories include color accuracy, image contrast, display brightness and screen reflection.

“OnePlus has quickly established itself as an industry leader in display performance, consistently providing among the best implementations of OLED technology on the market,” Dr. Raymond Soneira, President of DisplayMate Technologies, was quoted as saying by the manufacturer.

It’s worth noting that OnePlus doesn’t traditionally make its own screens, with Samsung providing the panel for its recent devices (such as the OnePlus 7T). But between Samsung’s display expertise and OnePlus’s tuning, it seems like we can nevertheless expect the OnePlus 8 series to deliver a slick visual experience once again.

Furthermore, leaked OnePlus 8 series specs point to the standard model offering a FHD+ 90Hz display, while the Pro variant is said to offer a QHD+ 120Hz screen. So those who value screen quality might want to look at the latter model.
