Report: OnePlus 9 series could launch earlier than expected
- The OnePlus 9 series will reportedly launch a month earlier than the OnePlus 8 duo.
- This comes after several reports that Samsung is moving up its Galaxy S30 launch as well.
The first OnePlus 9 series details are starting to trickle in, with the device purportedly code-named Lemonade. Now, another leak may have dished out rough launch details.
An “insider source” told Android Central that OnePlus hasn’t settled on a release date yet for the OnePlus 9 series, but said the launch is planned for a mid-March window. This apparent launch date would be roughly a month earlier than the OnePlus 8 series, which was launched on April 14 2020.
There’s no word on OnePlus 9 series specs just yet, but we’re expecting Snapdragon 875 silicon and high refresh rate OLED screens. The OnePlus 8 Pro also brought features like water resistance and wireless charging, so we’d expect to see this if there’s a OnePlus 9 Pro.
It isn’t the first time we’ve heard reports of 2021 flagship launches being moved forward either. Samsung’s Galaxy S30 series has been tipped to launch as soon as January 2021, which would be a little earlier than the Galaxy S20 series and its February 11 reveal date.
Nevertheless, news of a potentially earlier OnePlus 9 series launch date also comes as the firm is widely expected to introduce two budget phones soon. The company is tipped to launch the OnePlus Nord N10 5G and N100, with the former set to offer Snapdragon 690 power while the latter is purportedly using the Snapdragon 460 chipset.
