All future OnePlus phones will feature 90Hz display refresh rates
Today, on stage in India, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei revealed that all future smartphones from the company will include a 90Hz display refresh rate. This feature is currently one of the most popular aspects to the company’s OnePlus 7 Pro, released earlier this year.
OnePlus markets the 90Hz display refresh rate as “Fluid Display.” With a refresh rate higher than the traditional 60Hz on most phones, the OnePlus 7 Pro has smoother scrolling and animations.
“From now on, all future OnePlus smartphones will come with the Fluid Display technology,” Pei announced on stage today.
Pei did point out that having a 90Hz display refresh rate isn’t the only aspect that makes up its Fluid Display technology. He mentioned that software optimization, as well as the right hardware configurations, all work together to help make OnePlus smartphone displays create a terrific user experience.
However, the 90Hz aspect of the display is a big part of why it works better than other panels with just 60Hz refresh rates.
Rumors are circulating that the next entries in the Pixel line — the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL — will also feature 90Hz panels. That hasn’t been totally confirmed, but we’ve seen plenty of evidence to support it.
In our review for the OnePlus 7 Pro, we mentioned the display as being one of the best on any smartphone ever. So the news that OnePlus is bringing this to every future device in its catalog is terrific news.
