TL;DR
  • OnePlus has officially launched the OnePlus Buds Pro.
  • The new earbuds come with active noise cancellation and fast charging capabilities.
  • Expect to pay €149 or $149.99 in Europe and the US respectively.

OnePlus launched its first set of true wireless earbuds a year ago, dubbed the OnePlus Buds. It followed up with the budget-focused OnePlus Buds Z earlier this year, but it’s now stepping things up a notch with the newly announced OnePlus Buds Pro.

The new earbuds were announced alongside the Nord 2 and, as the name implies, signals the brand’s intention to target rivals like the Apple AirPods Pro and Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro. So how does it take the fight to rivals?

For starters, the Buds Pro offers active noise cancellation (ANC) ranging from 15 to 40 decibels. This makes it the first pair of OnePlus Buds to offer ANC capabilities. This active noise cancellation is helped by the presence of three microphones that also block wind noise.  The firm is also touting OnePlus Audio ID tech, which creates a “unique hearing profile” for you based on an audio test upon first using the buds.

OnePlus is also promising fast charging capabilities for the new earbuds and its charging case. More specifically, the firm is promising ten hours of juice for the case with just 10 minutes of wired charging (the case supports wireless top-ups too).

As for battery life, the new earbuds are slated to last up to five hours with ANC and up to seven hours without noise cancellation. Toss in a fully charged case, and you can get a total of 28 hours of ANC-enabled playback or up to 38 hours of listening with noise cancellation off.

Otherwise, the OnePlus Buds Pro offers two 11mm drivers, Bluetooth 5.2 support, Dolby Atmos support, a Pro Gaming mode with latency as low as 94 milliseconds, and an IP55 rating. The Buds Pro supports the LHDC codec, according to a product listing. The earbuds are available in Matte Black and Glossy White.

OnePlus revealed that the earbuds will retail for €149 in Europe and would be available from August 25. Meanwhile, US consumers will be spending $149.99, with availability from September 1. Indian pricing wasn’t disclosed, beyond noting it will be available via Amazon, the OnePlus website, OnePlus experience centers, and participating retailers.
