OnePlus is holding its Cloud 11 event today where it announced a number of new gadgets. In addition to the OnePlus 11 and the OnePlus Pad, the company announced the second generation of its Buds Pro line — the OnePlus Buds Pro 2.
Choosing not to deviate too far from the first generation, the Buds Pro 2 have a very similar design to the original. However, this new addition to the line is a tad more compact than the previous iteration. Specifically, these buds have a height of 24.3mm, a width of 20.85mm, and a length of 32.18mm. They are also slightly heavier, weighing in at 4.9g.
A few other things that have also transferred over to the Buds Pro 2 without much change are the 97dB sound pressure, the 520mAh battery case, and the IP55 water and dust resistance.
However, it’s not all the same specs in a new package; OnePlus has made a few improvements and added some features.
One of these improvements is the larger battery in the earbuds, which is likely why they weigh slightly more. The Buds Pro 2 have a 60mAh battery compared to the original’s 40mAh. OnePlus says this gets you about nine hours of playback time, whereas the first generation only gave listeners seven hours.
The company also lowered they latency from 94ms on Bluetooth 5.2 to 54ms on Bluetooth 5.3 LE. Another improvement users will find is better noise cancellation. In the last generation, these earbuds had active noise cancellation up to 40dB; that number has now been increased to 48dB.
As for what’s been added, the Buds Pro 2 have been given spatial audio, which the company says it has worked with Google on to provide theater-like sound quality. OnePlus has also enabled the Buds Pro 2 to connect up to two devices simultaneously. This is a feature that’s further enhanced by Google’s Fast Pair feature.
Additionally, the Buds Pro 2 have been given some special features, such as having five curated white noise modes, head and cervical spine health detection, and the ability to create a personalized audio profile that customizes audio for your ears (called Audio ID 2.0).
The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 will be available soon, starting on February 16. If you want to get your own pair, you can go to oneplus.com to order them for $179 / £179.
