This could be our first look at the OnePlus Buds Z2
- New renders of the purported OnePlus Buds Z successor have leaked.
- Dubbed the OnePlus Buds Z2, the true wireless earbuds pack a similar design to their predecessor.
- The new buds are reportedly due for an October launch.
OnePlus‘ affordable Buds Z true wireless earbuds made their debut at the back end of 2020 packing accomplished performance for a pretty low price. Now, renders of the purported second-generation buds have leaked with the OnePlus Buds Z2 title.
The leaked renders, arriving via 91Mobiles and tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer, are reportedly based on real-world pictures. Just as the original Buds Z, the Buds Z2 could feature a fuss-free design with a pill-shaped case.
Drilling down, the Buds Z2 still sport the stalk, but the ear tips are slightly different. The sharper-angled design should make for an easier, more secure fit. More sensors seemingly dot the interior of each earbud, too, but it’s unclear what additional functionality these bring. Automatic ear detection will likely make a return, though.
Our verdict: OnePlus Buds Z review — Cheaper and better than the OnePlus Buds
The case, meanwhile, seems to be almost entirely borrowed from the OnePlus Buds Z. It features a power indicator light up front and a USB-C charging port at the rear.
No real technical specs are known at present, but there are murmurs of a possible launch date. Per 91Mobiles, the OnePlus Buds Z2 could debut in October alongside another rumored device, the OnePlus 9RT.
