Crackables: OnePlus teams up with Google for puzzle-solving game
Riddle me this: What is Crackables and what does it have to do with the OnePlus 6T?
OnePlus just started teasing what appears to be a puzzle-solving game. Why is OnePlus getting into games? That’s a good question, but for now, all we can do is speculate.
Here’s what we know so far. Earlier this week, OnePlus posted a mysterious GIF on Twitter, along with the message “Incoming: Top Secret Message”. Then yesterday, the smartphone maker released a brief video showing some sort of puzzle game, along with a game character and a message: “Crack the code to win the challenge at crackables.oneplus.com.”
Think you have what it takes to crack the code? Play #Crackables to find out. Starting September 18.— OnePlus (@oneplus) September 11, 2018
Whatever Crackables ends up being, the challenge will start on September 18 at 8AM EST. On the Crackables page, OnePlus is teasing some sort of collaboration with Google. It’s not clear what this could entail, but the tie-up could take many forms, including an Android game or a puzzle that would have players uncover clues hidden in various online or real-world locations. Google is no stranger of puzzle challenges – just this year, the company used a series of encrypted clues to reveal the date and location of Google I/O 2018.
Crackables will be open to players from around the world, and judging from the teaser language, it sounds like OnePlus could reward the winner(s) with some prizes.
The OnePlus 6T is just around the corner, so the whole challenge could be one big marketing stunt for the new device. Judging from the screenshot that OnePlus recently shared with the press, the OnePlus 6T could launch on October 17. We also know the OnePlus 6T’s tagline will be “Unlock the Speed,” thanks to that leaked retail box. Is the “unlocking” theme just a coincidence?
