OnePlus devices could soon come with a force dark mode option

Thanks to some sleuthing done by the folks over at XDA Developers, OnePlus could be working on a new forced dark mode feature that brings the functionality to apps that don’t otherwise support it. XDA found a few strings hinting at the addition in the Settings app’s code in the latest OxygenOS beta for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro.

XDA was able to get a look at this force dark mode settings page. Unfortunately, it doesn’t do anything yet, and it doesn’t mention which apps this would work with. But it’s easy to see how this could benefit users, especially those who prefer to dark mode all the things.

In the screenshot below, you’ll see a toggle to enable the feature and a description that clarifies how it could work.

We don’t know when OnePlus would roll out this new force dark mode functionality, but we hope it’s sooner than later. Dark mode is wildly popular among Android users, so this feature would certainly be well received by the OnePlus community.
